Francis Acunzo is the CEO of spa810, Founder and Non-Executive Partner of Acara Partners and serves as the Chairman of the Aesthetic Business Institute’s Advisory Board. He and his wife and business partner, Colleen, are recognized as the founders of the medical spa movement in the US. Fran is a 30-year veteran in entrepreneurial ventures in the spa, retail, corporate healthcare, hospitality, beauty, wellness, and fitness industries.

Karen Albright

Attorney Karen Albright is the owner of BodyLase, a medical spa with two locations in the the “Research Triangle” area of North Carolina. With her husband, Dr. Daniel Albright, Karen opened BodyLase in 2002 and has grown the company into a business with annual revenue of over one million dollars.  Karen has been recognized as a 2019 Enterprising Women of the Year Award Winner, for her entrepreneurship, fast-growth businesses, and active mentoring within her community. She practiced law with a large firm in Connecticut for several years and has also taught legal writing at the University of North Carolina School of Law and Duke Law School.

Judy Alexander

Judy Alexander, has been the Owner and Executive Director of Skin Care Institute Medical and Wellness Spa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, partnering with her husband, Dermatologist Jeff Alexander, M.D., since its’ inception in 1999.

Skin Care Institute is the leading provider of Coolsculptingâ in Oklahoma and surrounding states and is one of Allergan’s elite top 150 accounts in the U.S.

It is repeatedly voted Oklahoma Magazine’s “Best of the Best” and is consistently on Tulsa People Magazine’s A-list.

Under Judy’s guidance, Skin Care Institute is in the top 1% of medical spas in the nation.

Aaron Burton

Aaron Burton is the Chief Executive Officer of Sciton, one of the leading laser and light technology companies in the aesthetic medical industry. Prior to this position, Aaron served as Chief Operating Officer, general manager and vice president of The Women’s Health Group, and several other leadership positions with Sciton since 2011.

Jerry Jacobson

Dr. Terrence Keaney

Dr. Terrence Keaney is a dermatologist at Skin DC in Arlington, VA, and is Assistant Clinical Faculty of Dermatology at George Washington (GW) University and Howard University. He has spearheaded numerous studies in skincare, cosmetic injectables, and the latest laser technology, and currently is focusing his research on how gender impacts aesthetic and dermatologic treatment.

Dr. Jared Mallalieu

Dr. Jared Mallalieu is a board certified general surgeon specializing in cosmetic surgery. After completing a five-year surgical residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, MD, he moved to California and was a fellow with the Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgical Group. Since graduating from his fellowship, Dr. Mallalieu has continued to hone his surgical and laser skills, specializing in laser assisted liposuction and body sculpting. He is also a Sciton Luminary and leads training sessions for this renowned laser company.

Dr. Sarah Mess

Dr. Sarah Mess is a board certified plastic surgeon, and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. A graduate of Georgetown University Hospital, the University of Maryland Medical School and the University of Pennsylvania, she is affiliated with the Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, Northwest Hospital in Randallstown, Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, and Montgomery General Hospital in Olney. She is also a part-time instructor at Johns Hopkins and was named Plastic Surgery Section Chief at Howard County General in 2014.

Jeff Routledge

Jeff Routledge is the president and CEO of MedResults Network, based in Huntington, CA, the largest buying network in the aesthetic medical industry serving over 3,000 practices and med spas. He has over 25 years of experience in strategic planning, business development, regional and national operations, market analysis, marketing, and product/service development.

Rob Trow

Rob Trow has owned Environ Skin Care–DermaConcepts for over 25 years, the exclusive distributor of Environ’s state of the art products in the United States. Trow has published over 100 articles focusing on the science of skin care and the business of operating a skin care practice. In addition, he is a regular speaker at national and international meetings, focusing on emerging topics in the industry.

NJ Wazaney

NJ Wazaney serves as vice president of commercial development for Merz North America, where oversees the entire aesthetic portfolio. He is also responsible for accessing and evaluating various companies, products, and services for strategic partnerships. Prior to this appointment, he served in senior leadership roles with Symplast, Ulthera, Bard Peripheral, Ballard Medical, Kimberly-Clark, CardioDynamics, Cardiva, TYRX, and MCI/Worldcom.

Paula Di Marco Young, BS, RN, CLO/A

Paula is a Registered Nurse, Certified Laser Operator/Aesthetics, and the Director of Public Relations and Marketing for Young Medical Spa®. She is also Faculty with THE Aesthetic Show™ in Las Vegas, NV, a multidisciplinary medical education conference focused on the rapidly expanding field of aesthetic medicine.

Paula’s awards for her podcast “It’s a Young Thing” with Nurse Paula Young include: “Top Nurses” Award in the 2018 Aesthetic Everything Awards, “Rising Star” Award in the 2018 MyFaceMyBody Awards, and a finalist in the 2018 TAG! You’re It! Awards at THE Aesthetic Show™ in Las Vegas, NV. She also won an international award of “Aesthetic Nurse of The Year” in the 2016 THE Aesthetic Awards™ at THE Aesthetic Show™, and a “Top 10 Nurses” Award from the 2016 Aesthetic Everything Awards.

Erica Collins

Erica Collins was named the executive director of the Aesthetic Business Institute in November of 2018. She comes to this role at ABI after years of leadership positions in the aesthetic medical industry, specifically with Cynosure. Most recently, she served as the senior customer marketing program manager, where she oversaw a highly successful and innovative customer marketing program and support team.

John Powers, PhD

John Powers, PhD, serves as the director of education and research for the Aesthetic Business Institute (ABI) and also is a senior communication consultant at Reach Beyond Marketing. Dr. Powers also teaches as an adjunct professor at Quinnipiac University’s School of Communication and School of Health Sciences. Prior to working with the Acara family of businesses, he served as director of public affairs at Yale University School of Nursing, director of communications at Adelbrook Behavioral Services (formerly The Children’s Home), and media specialist at Midstate Medical Center (formerly Meriden-Wallingford Hospital).
